I have a final mixdowned sequence I'm trying to convert from 23.98fps to 24. I'm curious if I use the modify - set format option in a 24p project how Avid will handle this conversion. What I want for it to do is speed up the audio and video by .1% - I can't figure out if this is what Media Composer will do or if instead it is playing it back at the same speed and inserting/interpolating/removing frames. The motion adapter says its using fields (can't remember the exact choice) which leads me to believe its not doing the proper .1% speed up - but I can't be sure - it certainly doesn't look bad.
A bit of background - long story short -making a dcp by hand and it needs to be 24 not 23.98 - not a problem image wise - export an image sequence and it'll play back at 24 no problem - getting the audio to match is the concern. i realize that there is an option in pro tools to pull-up/pull down a mix for precisely this purpose - however given the current situation I'm trying to find a possible way to avoid this. (pro tools)
Other options I've considered are
1): just using the time-shift audio suite plugin in my current 23.98 project on a new sequence with mix and speeding it up by .1% to output a new audio file
2) Outputting the audio file from my master 23.98 sequence, restamping it as 48048 or 47952 (not sure which) in wave agent, then reimporting it into a 24p project to export a new audio file.
Any suggestions or am I overthinking this?
