I'm using Avid Media Composer 6.5.0. on a Mac at my school. I am a Windows person so I have no idea how to find the rest of the metadata needed (what the OS is, etc). My source data is:
.wav, .aiff, .mp4 for sound and XDCAM 1080p 24fps for video.
Again, I'm on a Mac and using files and saving to a Toshiba 1TB external hard drive formatted ExFAT because I have to jump from Windows to Mac for other projects as well as my home computer.
Other information, I'll need to be told how to retrieve as I am unfamiliar with the Mac interface.
I'm having a few problems but I'll start with the one that's driving me the craziest right now:
SOUND. I am unable to apply sound effects to clips. I can use RTAS but I don't want to (and when I do, it won't let me preview before rendering).
Every time I try to use the sound effects tool, I take the following steps:
1. Select the clip and it's track, make sure all other tracks are deselected.
2. Place markers on both sides of the clip.
3. Select my plug-in in the AudioSuite window.
4. Drag plug-in into the bin.
5. Drag plug-in onto the clip
6. Change levels etc in the AudioSuite
7. Click "Render"
And then, it gives me the following message: "Exception: Operation not supported, filename:/Volumes/TOSHIBA EXT/Avid MediaFiles/MXF/1/Creating/creating0"
Obviously, I have no clue what this means or why this is happening. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or what. I've looked up tutorials on how to use the AudioSuite and have done what it says step by step and.. nothing.
Really need some help with this as my project is at a stand-still until I figure this out. I'll get to my OTHER problems later when I figure this one out.
