Is a Patch needed for MC 5.5.3 to facilitate Matrox MXO2 Mini MAX?

Hi, I've just started using MC 5.5.3.

I haven't had the need to install any Patches for it (in fact the Avid website says not to unless needed).

I'm about to install the Matrox MXO2 Mini MAX using their mtx.utils.5.5.2 exe file.  But I'm wondering if I need to first install a Patch for MC 5.5.3 first?
