MC 6.5.2 - No media can be written to drives on Synology DS1512+

I have MC 6.5.2 and a Synology DS1512.  Every time I start up MC I get the error "No media can be written to any available drive.  Check permissions."  I have drives mounted in the finder through SMB.  Originally I had MC 7 loaded but downgraded to 6.5.2, but it didn't resolve anything.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!  Thanks.
