Hello, sorry for questions that are probably pretty basic but I've just left the stone age and started working with AVCHD after using a Sony FX1 tape camera for a long time. Just puchased the Panasonic I had heard that one of the biggest benefits to Cards was to get the footage ready to edit much quicker, unfortunately I'm yet to discover how to do that.
Spent many hours researching and troubleshooting so wanted to make sure this is correct? When shooting to AVCHD, I have three options for editing.
1. Import the footage into Avid. Works well but doesn't seem to be any faster than imporing real time off a tape. Creates a big file.
2. Link AMA Files from .MTS but needs to transcode to work smoothly. The Transcode seems to take at least real time of footage and makes enormous files in the 30gb-90gb per hour range. Which are huge files for me since I'm editing entire sports games all the time.
3. Use a third party software to convert files to .mov?
Are these my options? Anything else to speed things up, make files smaller othern than working online that seemed kinda of confusing and makes sports footage hard to view well. Or maybe I just need a faster computer.
Thanks for your help!
