We recently upgraded to MC 6.0.5 from 6.0.4, having had no obvious problems upgrading to each upgrade/patch from 6.0.1 onwards.
This time however, it appears clips using the Quicktime plugin, have their durations increased by a factor of 1.02. Clips from XDCAM EX, either imported or AMA loaded are fine.
The projects are PAL 1080i and affected footage include H264, mp4 and DNxHD 185 movs.
The following is a quote from the mail our editor sent me:
I have discovered a new bug whilst AMA linking to individual
clips (not stuff which is properly indexed as a volume)
Avid mistakenly changes the duration of a lets says 30 second
clip to 30
seconds and 15 frames by adding the first frame of the clip 15
times to the end of it
And for a 60 second clip it will ama link as 61 seconds and 5 frames
So it seems to always increase the duration by a factor of 1.02
This is a new bug that I have just discovered because I am trying to
reload an old job consisting mostly of ama linked clips (not
volumes) and I could not understand why nothing was relinking until I looked
closer at the durations and then saw the doubling up the frame
one at the end of each clip, so it probably happened with the latest
upgrade as this job was archived off in early October.
Just discovered that this bug applies to hard imports too
I downgraded the software to 6.0.4 and everything came right again.
The editor mentions above that he is re-working an old job but the problem occurs on new projects as well.
The system is Avid qualified xw8600 and Quadro with Nitris DX hardware. I cannot say which version of Quicktime is installed, but it definitely is the version specified for 6.0.4 installation and I will check when back at the office.
Thanks for any assistence.
Richard
