I know that this topic has been discussed in the past, but in my search, I could not find a satisfactory answer, so I am deciding to try again:
System: iMac, 10.8.5, 2.9GHz Intel Core i5, 32Gb RAM
external HD: 3Tb LaCie Thunderbolt drive
Avid 7.0
So, I have been having a nightmare transcoding long AVCHD clips. All my footage was shot on a Panasonic HMC-150, 1080p/30 recording set up, and I am using DNxHD 100 as a transcoding flavor. All shorter clips transcode without giithces, but any longer clips always crash my system toward the end of transcoding, with the longest ever error message (something like: "Assertion failed: audioDesc && (0<audioDesc->GetNumChannels0)
File:
/Volumes/Data/Snapshots/relengsnow3_1372098296/coresw/ame/Projects/Mac/..".."src/msm/MultipleDescription.c,
Line: 462"
The clip where Avid crashes is one hour and eight minutes long.
I tried the same process on a couple of different iMacs running Avid v.7, I tried selecting in and out points, I tried making a subclip and then transcoding the subclip, all to no avail.
This clip is an essential clip for my whole project and I am now exhausted and upset with Avid with all these gibberish errors.
If there is no solution for this, I will have to bite a bullet and just edit on FCP 7, which I've been avoiding as I need to use Avid's multicam, which works much better than FCP's multicam.
Thank you in advance.
