Media Composer 7 Segmentation Fault at address 0x0

I'm posting this in hopes of helping anyone who may have the issue that I had. It seems the Alert "Segmentation Fault" in thread "Main Thread", at address 0x0 is still possible when upgrading from Media Composer or Symphony, especially from what I read in earlier posts, when you upgrade your operating system and the Avid editor at the same time. I upgraded Mac OS 10.8.2 to 10.8.4 and Symphony 6.5 to Media Composer 7 with the Symphony option and received the dreaded Segmentation Fault at 0x0 error message when trying to open my current in work projects. I tried the method of changing the O/S drive permissions to Read and Write, removing the font file spoken of in earlier posts, moving my files into a new project and many other things to no avail. I finally narrowed it down to being the problem was MC7 didn't like something in my Avid Shared users file. I deleted the file and after 2 days of work my system works like a charm. If you are seeing this issue try deleting the file (on Mac) Macintosh HD/users/shared/avid media composer/avid users/your user name. I deleted my user name file and everything inside with it. When you start your editing application it will add the needed files back in. Hope that helps. It worked for me.
