FS-CF Pro Workflow in MC7

Hi folks,

[I actually just solved this myself as I composed it and checked some settings and almost deleted the thread.  I'm posting it anyway, in case there's another MC newbie with a similar issue in the future.  Hope that's okay!]

I've just finally moved to Media Composer 7 from Liquid 7.  I did the crossgrade back in '09 when Avid put Liquid to rest, but never made the switch to MC4/5 back then.  At the end of 2013, I built a new PC to dedicate to MC7. (Per advice from the VideoGuys website and LewS.)

It's amazing how much this transition showed me what I do NOT know about codecs and containers and things.  I'm not a professional; I'm just an enthusiast who loves making his own travel movies, documenting the vehicles I build in my business, and occasionally shooting events for friends.

My first hurdle is this: I simply can't find the right settings to get a working file from my XH-A1 and FS-CF Pro DTE recorder. I'm pretty certain the FS-CF Pro can produce a file that will go direct to edit in Media Composer. (At least I HOPE it can!)

I'm currently failing with the following settings...

 - XH-A1 (running tapeless) is set to record in HDV, 60i.  (only other menu options: 30F or 24F)

 - FS-CF Pro set as REC MODE:HDV and REC FORMAT:Quicktime (other menu options: M2T or MXF)

 - new MC7 project set to 1080p/29.97 [A-ha!  There was the problem...  I needed the project to be 1080i/59.94.  No wonder I was getting no video - just a white screen in the preview window.]

Now I can move on with the tutorials!  I know I'll have many more questions in the near future, but from my great experiences with the Avid forums with Liquid, I'm not worried.

Thanks!
