copy PARTIAL bin column data

I know how to copy an entire column using the duplicate command...but I only want to copy a few rows of information in the column. AVID manual says to highlight the rows and then click on the column heading but when I do that, of course, all the rows are highlit. Is there a way to only duplicate a few rows into another column. (ps I don't want to add the same comment to all rows - I want to duplicate the info on a few rows into another column...)
