I know this sounds pretty backwards.
I am working on a webseries with a lot of footage. I've imported a great deal of the footage, but I could still leave my computer running for days on end before it would transcode everything. The amount of space it is taking up is very high (the Black Magic footage is almost 1:1 on space when transcoding, while the Cannon 7D transcodes to triple size from the original h.264 compressed files).
I am wasting a lot of space with all of this transcoded material. Now that I know I can edit AMA, and then simply transcode the footage (with handles) used in my sequences once I am finished, that seems like the way to go going forward.
As for the episodes that I have already edited (two out of fourteen), is there a simple way for me to switch out the transcoded clips that are currently in my bin for AMA files, that way I can save some space until I'm done? And if so, how will this affect my synced clips where I originally autosynced my tanscoded clips with external audio?
Or am I better off just keeping all of my transcoded material for the first two episodes, and then switching to the AMA editing method for the remaining 12?
I use Avid 6 for most of my sequence editing, although I do have access to Avid 7 (I mostly use 7 just for importing, since I can't bring 7 sequences back into 6)
Thank you for any help! I hope this wasn't confusing.
