Hi,
I'm curious what others think of Avid FX. How often do you use it, vs. going to After Effects? How much are you prepared to invest in learning it? How does it truly compare to After Effects and Motion?
What I do like about it is that you can use it within Media Composer, which is a huge timesaver and seems to be unique within the world of Avid.
What I don't like about it is that depsite the name "Avid FX" it's just a third party app that could vanish overnight if Borris FX ever had a falling out with Avid (ala Google Vs. Apple). So, it makes it scary going down the rabbit hole of potentially amassing huge amounts of obsolete information (a la Final Cut Pro 7). I would feel much more comfortable if Avid would just create it's own Apple Motion or better yet After Effects-style integrated app.
What are people's thoughts? (Douglas, no need to tell me - I know:-)) How far down the rabbit hole are editors really going with this app?
