Importing MXF

Hello, I have recently purchased Media composer since they stopped making Final cut, and need to edit footage that has come out as MXF files. If I try to import one .MXF into the bin it instantly crashes and quits media composer. If I put an .MXF into the AvidMediaFiles/MXF/1, as suggested in other threads, then media composer wont start at all and I get the ("Segmentation fault" in the thread "MainThread", at adress 0x0) Alert. 

Is there any way to edit MXF files with media composer?
