My brand new G-Speed drive keeps "degrading". The ATTO card will display a critical error indicating one of the drives has faulted and the RAID5 set will then go into "degraded" status. I've gone through TWO of the G-Speed units now with pretty much identical results. All the tech people are scratching their heads. ATTO assures me that the R680 card is working fine. G-Tech support is pretty much into the "if it is broke replace it" mode. I have an active case with the nice folks at Avid support and they are diligently working on it, but there does not seem to be an easy solution.
My main questions are this. One of the odd behaviors I have seen on the G-Speed drive -- The big "smart-fan" never comes on (except briefly during power up - so it Does work). I find this curious, but the G-Tech support is like - "it will come on when it needs to". Well after being on all day and rebuilding a stripe set several times I would think it needs to! What experience have other users had? Does it blow like a hairdryer (what I would expect). Or just sit there?
Also, have other users had issues with ATTO 680 cards and the G-Speed drives? Particularly the Dell T7610? I will freely admit after a couple of weeks of dealing with this I am grasping at straws.
I am on the recommended/latest drivers per Avid/ATTO for Everything in the system.
Any insight and experience with a similar set up is much appreciated.
