How to stop an exported quicktime juddering / best export practise?

Hello,

I'm having issues with juddery quicktime exports.

I've just finishing cutting some films and I'm supposed to deliver best quality, uncompressed quicktimes, preferably H264.

The films were shot on a C300 - 1080p/25 and onlined at DNxHD 185.

I exported an QT H264 with these settings: Key frames - automatic, Best quality, Datarate- automatic.

A 3 minute film came out at 3.06GB and has several moments where movement judders/jumps.

An equivalent export test where I restricted data rate to 6000 kbits/sec came out at 170MB and looks fine.

So my question is what do people think are the best settings for a best quality possible H264 QT? Do I need a data rate limit?

Also - interested what people think best practise is when exporting top quality QT's of films, for my own archive. What format/settings do you use?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Many thanks

Dylan
