Trim Mode is slow and sluggish when using Video Hardware

Hi all,

I'm an FCP user, recently migrating to Media Composer for a project, so forgive me if this has been covered in previous discussions.  I just recently downloaded installed MC 7 on my MacBook Pro connected to an AJA T-Tap.  My MacBook Pro is about a year old or so and runs 10.8.4

I'm experiencing serious sluggish when in Trim Mode.  I have audio scrub turned off, which helped, but it is still slow and sluggish when I trim clips.  When I disable hardware, trim is at an acceptable level, although not as fast as FCP or Premiere.  At work I have Mac Pros with Kona cards and they also experience minor sluggishness but no where near the slowness I get with my T-Tap.

I've read in a few othre forums, people mentioning this issue with previous versions, but I wanted to check in and see if I'm missing anything on my end as far as settings, which might be causing this or if this is the nature of the beast, or something that still hasn't improved.  I do hear that AJA's hardware performs the best as far as third party devices goes.

Just seeing if other experience this on the T-Tap or other third party devices?
