EDL - Avid 00 hour verses Resolve 24 hour timecode conform issue

In the Avid the timecode we use to represent 12:00am is 00:00:00:00 timecode.

If you start a take at 23:59:59:23 and this take continues, the Avid will roll to 00:00:00:00 in a 23.976 1080p project.

The Resolve in this instance will roll to 24:00:00:00!!!

If you are making an EDL from an Avid Sequence, the events with hour 00 need to be changed to 24 for the DaVinci Resolve to pull the selects (camera masters, and various sources) into the “Media Pool” and if you were going to create a Timeline in  the “CONFORM” Suite (Found in the Upper left courner of the Resolve 9).

 In any text editor

1)     go to that event number in the EDL

2)     change the timecode hour from 00 to 24

3)     Save EDL – Make sure that the suffix of the EDL is .edl

Now you can use this EDL in DaVinci Resolve to pull the camera selects in the “Media Pool” and in the “CONFORM” Suite you can use this EDL to create a Timeline.

Just giving you all a heads up on this one!!!
