I'm curious what the general consensus is on how much black to put at the beginning of videos (demo reel videos for various production disciplines, in this case) that stream on websites. Lately I've been using 1 second of black befor the first frame of actual video or audio, but sometimes I wonder if I should make this just a tad longer, perhaps 1.5 seconds. Too long and it's annoying, but too short and the video starts before you have time to move the mouse and start paying attention.
My reflex is to use a bit more for any type of narrative work (at least a few seconds), but for things like demo reels, my feeling has always been to keep it quite short.
I'm just curious what others do.
