Unrendered Media Won't Play, Gives Error Message.

Hi All,

A bit of an odd issue I have here and wondering if anyone can help me out.

When I load up a timeline with any unrendered effects in it, I get this error message:

"Exception: FATAL_ERROR, msg:Assertion failed: FALSE, file:..\..\src\Consumers\Effectman\EffectConsumerBase.c, line:394"

And it won't allow me to work in the timeline because everytime I press play or even move the playhead the error message comes up.

BUT, if I open up a timeline with all the effects rendered I can scrub through it no problem and it plays back flawlessly. But as soon as I make an edit and cause something to become unrendered, the error message comes up again and the timeline is unplayable.

Also, any unrendered title or matte key that I try to load into the source monitor says "WRONG FORMAT" in the monitor. It looks exactly like the grey "MEDIA OFFLINE" image that appears in the monitor for offline media, but instead says "WRONG FORMAT" (screen shot attached)

Anyone have any idea what's going on here? I've tried deleting the database files in all the AvidMediaFiles folders. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Media Composer. Even did a system restore and still the same problem.

I'm running MC 5.5.3 on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit Intel Core i7 CPU 3.33GHz, 24 GB RAM.

nVidia Quadro 4000 version: 259.77

Quicktime Version: 7.6.9

Thank you everyone!!
