Dear Avid Management and Engineering.
Avid products won me over instantly back in 2001.
However, since these latest versions of MC 5 6 and especially 7
My editing process has become sluggish, and riddled with problems.
I have great and unpredictable difficulty getting the Sony AVCHD into my MC 6.5
I have discribed my workaround and various users have attemted to talk about their experience, however, I read that AVCHD support was REMOVED from the latest version of MC 7.
I tried MC 7 and it would not work at all.
I do not have a hundred thousand dollars to get an avid media server.
I use USB 2 and 3 drives attached to my HP z800 approved hardware machine.
It is sluggish. It ponders and waits and seems to be constantly stuck.
Back in the good old Avid Express, Express Pro HD days, the response was faster than I can think, Now the response is a constant struggle.
I am much less efficient of an Editor now, as I am constantly futzing with a torrent of "issues".
I am constantly babysitting my machine to, restart a capture, or watching it get stuck ( seemingly having to check all the drives in the system)
I must admit, that my machine has vastly more hard drive space than my old machines. I have many USB drives hanging off the side.
Maybe this is the problem.
I also wish there was a procedure or a menu item that could completely back up an entire project to another location. Not just a sequence, but an entire project.
If this existed, then I could slog through the process of cleaning out my system and cleaning off the drives so that I could start fresh.
Sincerely
Mark Pirtle
