We have a Nexis system with a mix of PC and mac clients and the macs all exhibit this error when trying to copy files to a workspace. Sometimes the files will copy anyway but others will throw up a further OS error.

I'm using Media composer 2018.4. I've been experiencing some issues in the Avid attic bin. Avid attic is not creating a backup of all my bins stored inside the project. Some bins and folders do not have a copy inside Avid attic. What can be the reason for such an issue?
I just installed Media Composer 2018.5. It seems to be working fine, except for the fact that when I exit/quit the application, it crashes. I don't seem to lose any work, but I did not have this issue with the previous version. I did an uninstall before I installed this version. I am also working in a brand new project, so I am not sure why I am experiencing this issue. I am also using a new user profile. MacOS High Sierra Version 10.13.4

I am using the 8.1.0 MC version on a Mac Book Pro OS X Version 10.9.5. I am trying to continue with an old project and this error appears:

It is not related to any particular sequence, clip or bin. ¡It appears everywhere! In another forum somebody suggested to delete the msmFMID.pmr and msmMMOB.mdb. files, which would lead Avid to rebuild them. I tried this suggestion out, but the error continues to appear.

On v7.04.4, I'm finding that a Replace edit does "not respect" the instance of ADD-Edits on Timeline Clips. In the past, I remember a Replace ending at an Add-Edit point. however all is not lost:
When I remove Marks from Composer, Replace DOES respect ADD-Edits and works as expected.
I just don't recall MC's Replace as deferring to Marks, and in effect, doing and OVERWRITE while pressing REPLACE key.

Hello, all. I have a P2 card that has been somehow corrupted and will not import. There is one clip, however, that is intact, I can view it with VLC player, but I can't seem to import that clip as a media file. Any suggestions?
I could ask this question to Support but I'd like to see what others are experiencing out in the field as well.
With the removal of the framework in the media indexer and the introduction of the ActiveMQ connection, the FI database and mongoDB a lot of fixes have been introduced in the media indexer to resolve a multitude of problems. The most important fix being the improved memory management preventing slowness and crashes.
These crashes however made a certain architectual behavior visible of which I do not know if this is by design or if they could be considered bugs.
If the mongodb service crashes (with or without taking the classic MI service or the whole server BSOD with it) and it is brought back up, clients like a client local media indexer, transcode services, stp service, media central etc.. often nead restarts to re-connect to the media indexer. It is as if the ActiveMQ connection for these clients does not support automatic re-connection.
If this is by design, could it be wise to release a document/knowledgebase article which clients require a restart after each of the individual media indexer services is restarted?

I'm coming back to Avid after a year's absence and full OS reinstall.
Avid were superb but Sorenson are being *** - my old v.6 is now 'unsupported' and they don't seem to care less that it won't reinstall properly.
Sorenson was once indispensible for exporting compressed files.
But the last Avid editor I worked with exported a fast, compressed .AVI file straight out of Media Composer - something that was unheard of a few years ago.
So, is Sorenson now basically redundant? I kind of hope so, as I don't appreciate being bullied into spending $$00s on the latest version.

Am back on MC after a long hiatus, and it's painful how much stuff I seem to have forgotten.
I shot an interview on split tracks, but Avid automatically mixes them, both in Audio Tool and the little on-screen audio monitor.
How do I separate them?

MC 2018.4 on OS 10.12.6. Every 10 seconds something is taking focus from whatever application is foremost, holding it for a few seconds, and then releasing it. I opened Force Quit to try and see if I could tell what it is, but there's nothing there aside from Finder and MC. I've quit all the stuff in the upper right (dropbox, adobe creative cloud, etc) that I could find. Any ideas of where else to look?
I'm trying to uninstall the ISIS client from a workstation so that I can move it to the new Nexis client. I'm getting an error from windows, I would really like to not have to wipe the system. Currently I'm running 4.7.10 on my engine, (which I know the Nexis client won't see) but I'm finally at a quiet point in my office where I can take things down for a few hours to perform the updates. I just wanted to pre-uninstall the 4.7.10 client so things went a little quicker. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Also, I've done tried the uninstallation via Windows Control Panel as well as a freshly downloaded (from my engine) client installation package. The same error is persistant in both cases. Thanks!
So with all the confusing messaging that Avid is putting out about Media Composer, I've noticed that the highly touted "New Title Tool" that was announced 1 year ago seems to be forgotten, and not mentioned at all at this NAB. It seems this announced feature is now DOA? While trying to gain info on NAB, all I'm finding is a super amateurish page filled with tweets on the ACA site. If the goal of Avid management is to confuse people, then they are doing a fantastic job.

Just updated to 2018.5 and was hoping there might be a way to have proxy audio shown as some other color than light gray in the timeline. It makes it difficult to see, but I can't seem to find a workaround.

Haven't used it from MC for a bit and I just tried with MC 2018.5 (Fusion Studio 9.0.2, Fusion Connect 9.0.2) and the UI inside MC does not respond to the 'Edit' button in the Fusion Connect effect editor window nor does it respond to the path configuration (options) button. The other buttons in the Fusion Connect effect editor dialog work fine (including the button that exports the clip to image files in preparation for Fusion's loader node).
As far as I can recall, it was working recently (but prior to 2018.5).

* Video mixdown crasches (feel free to give examples why a mixdown could crasch)
* export to MXF crasches (feel free to give examples why a export could crasch)
* transcode in Handbrake crashes
* uploading to ftp fails
The security by deliver via SNG:
Just play direct from Avid. No need to video mixdown, export etc.
If neccessary, you can edit a litle bit longer.
Hi, we are running Media Composer 2018.5, and have been having an issue where markers will randomly disappear from the groups linked to a script after the script has been opened on another edit bay. Our shared storage is Avid NEXIS E2.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I shot on red dragon, 4.5w, and im editing with proxies in 1080p (ama).
I created the project in 1080p (16:9) 23.9fps, but i actually need to edit in 4:3. So i used mac in my school (avid 8.9.3) to finihsed the rough cut, which I used frame flex and created 4:3 ratio, it showed two black bars on both sides, and I can adjust the letterbox.
But when I just opened the project on my mac (avid 2018.5), both moniters are showing the clips in 16:9, even though i checked in sours browsing, and it's still showing the same. I tried to reajust the crop square, the picure moved with it, but still showing in 16:9 without the bars.
