Buying laptop for MC7 editing and trying to decide whether I should pay $250 more for Quadro K2100M (576 CUDA cores) vs K1100M (384 CUDA cores)? If it will really help $250 more is ok for K2100M, but not if just a waste of money.
From all my reading on Avid recommended system sites I see Quadro cards range from K4000 to K600 but I think that is more just way some HP, Dell systems are configured--don't see explanation about CUDA core benefits. Also searched on this forum, Googling, etc and it looks like MC7 does not really take advantage of CUDA like Adobe Premiere. RAM and CPU speed seem most important with MC7 (i.e. Avid site says AMA is CPU intensive for example). My current Quadro FX1800 with only 92 CUDA cores seems to be below some limit for MC to use CUDA at all, maybe there is some limit needed to enable any CUDA help for MC (maybe 256 CUDA cores or something)?
I suppose in future MC could change to make use of CUDA so maybe for that reason pay more for more CUDA cores??
Would appreciate knowing what you find in "real world editing" regarding CUDA cores for MC7. Thank you, Dennis
