Hello Everyone. I now have Pro Tools 8.5 Running (kinda running it) on a Windows 7 Pro 64bit, Dell Laptop. I did install Version 8.3 without installing the Mbox, and then installed 8.5, Thats what it said to do on Avids site. This laptop has a Core i7 processor with 6GB of memory. The only reason I bought this laptop is to run Pro Tools. Pro Tools and my plugs ins are the only items installed on the PC. So once I had everything setup, I installed my Mbox 2. I works with no issues, but when im in Pro Tools every few minutes after recording or trying to just listen to a recorded track inside Pro Tools 8 I get the following message.
"The Audio device buffer underflowed. If this offurs frequently, try decreasing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the playback engine panel or remove other devices from the audio firewire bus. (-6085)"
Once I click ok on this message, all audio sounds very static/poppy and "rebotic". I then have to close Pro Tools and reopen it. Sometimes I can record or listen to a track for a few minutes. Sometimes as soon as I start, I hear some popping noises and I get the error again.
I have tried everything listed on the Pro Tools site about performance for a Windows Laptop. I reinstalled Pro Tools 8 and also reinstalled the Mbox. I have thought about reinstalling the whole Laptop, since all of my Pro Tools fiels are on my external. I went though the whole list and did everything. I do have the most current drivers for everything as well. Also, once the message pops up, all audio has that static/popping robotic sound, even if I play a mp3 though Windows Media Player. (If Pro Tools is open) Once I close Pro Tools, I can play a track with no sound issues at all, so I know its not the MBox or anything like that. I have also replaced the usb cable and completly decreased the H/W buffer size down the lowest setting and it still dose this.
I did not have any issues on my XP PC, but I hate to downgrade my nice new laptop to XP, plus it would only see 4GB of memory. One area I have not messed with is the settings inside the "Mbox Control Panel", did not want to make it worse, so I have left it alone.
If you have any information on what I can do to make this stop, please let me know. Thanks ~ Chris
