DNxIO is HDMI 2.0a/HDR capable?
Looking at the DNxIO specs it says: HDMI 2.0 type A connectors for HDMI output.
My question for the DNxIO owners, or the techs at Avid: is this HDMI output using 2.0a, which is a format that allows for HDR? or by Type A connectors do they simply mean the shape/size of the cable?
Reason this is important to me is based on my output path: if i go from DNxIO out via HDMI 2.0a, then I am sending HDR data out, and if this goes into my fancy new 4K tv with HDR support, and with Avid's own recent added feature of HDR color space, then I truley have a HDR path from Avid to my viewing monitor = awesome looking Avid output!
Any info you could share would be most helpful!

Intel v AMD for MC
Ok so its a question that keeps getting asked on multiple forums and sites. I thought i had a good understanding but the more i read the cloudier it gets.
RIDDLE ME THIS IF YOU WILL?
Avid only officially supports Intel processors yes?
Why then have i found a page
https://www.amd.com/en/graphics/workstation-media-and-entertainment-solutions-avid-media-composer
showing suppoort for AMD GPU's if MC doesnt like AMD processors?
I realise you can pair an Intel CPU and an AMD GPU or vice versa but surely its better to 'stay inhouse' and use the same brand for all?
Im about to build a new system which will be in order a MC / Resolve / Photoshop rig. Apprently Resolve loves Quadro cards as it does most of its work through the GPU. What does MC prefer? processor or GPU?
Such a pain in the $$$$.
Do any of you have real world sucess with a fill AMD system?
thanks in advance for any thoughts.
Serious problem, Assertion failed
Hi,
Suddenly, after not being able to export a sequence, Avid MC stopped working properly.
After booting the application, when I open a project I get the following error message:
assersion failed: m_valid File:/Builds/workspace/MC/Release_installer_Git/Mac_Build/coresw/VolumeUI/volMenuUtils.c Line: 1089
then I can choose from debugger, continue, exit applictaion or create report, but I can't work. if I choose continue, I'll get this message on everything I try to do.
It happens in all my projects, including a newly creatd one.
I tried the following:
Restart the computer
uninstall and install Avid MC again
Deleting the latest render files, thought maybe they caused the problem.
but the problem persists. Please help! I can't work!

No Ikegami GFCAM AMA plugin for 2018 or 2019.
Hi,
Has anybody ever managed to get a Ikegami GFCAM card to work with MC 2018.x or 2019.x.
I guess GFCAM has died development wise in 2014 but I'm not able to find any end of support information that would actually confirm that after MC 8.9 it was all over.
Thanks for any info.
Windows 7 Question / MC 2020

Test Narration
What is the best way to put test narration into the Avid?
MC Freezes
Wondering if this happens to anyone else. For my work I need to have firefox open so I can download production music and also check work emails and download notes etc. Also have Slack going where we share cuts from producers and other editors on the series.
I find that if I just hide AVID and then go back to it, it either freezes, or I can't close bins or select clips from the bin I was working in, especally if I'm scoring the cut. I then have to exit AVID and go back in. As I need to do this fairly reguarly it's annoying. Is this something I have to live with or is there a workaround or settings? With a 16-Core processor I thought I would't have this issue anymore. Would love to know what other editors do in this situation.
Change Tape Name
Hi there! how are you?
I was wondering if there's a way to change TAPE NAME to a bunch of clips, but automatically adding Clip Name info.
I mean... to get TAPE NAME = CLIP NAME
Is there a way?
Thanks!
HP RGS - VPN discussion - remote working
I'm interested how people are getting on with this and their setups. It definitely works for us, I'm on Z840 for the sender and Z440 for the receiver and 2 screens at 1920x1200 and it's very workable. I've also streamed the client monitor using Sienna NDI over the same VPN , we get about 1o frames delay doing this. I tried Medialooks as well than that works but a bit trickier to set up. Without the client monitor it's hard to tell you are working remotely, and very little investment to make it work.
I was curious what other setups are working.. How about MAC receivers and PC senders, and is it better with one 2560x1080 display for the avid ? And can you go to 3 monitors so the third is the client monitor?
And also are people finding it tricy to set up with random other receivers.? It's easy to control when we own all the kit and it's basically avid spec, but what about more random receiver equipment?
Just interested in peoples experience and whats working.
Thanks
Nige
How to add action to Browse App
http://developer.avid.com/mcux_ui_plugin/clux-api/actions-api.html#Action-Binding-Config
Hello! I want to add action to Browse App. How I can do it? There are ‘places’ and ‘filter’ properties (in action binding config). For 'places' I take ‘contextMenu’ and ‘viewMenu’. But what I should use for ‘filter ‘? If I use plugin id, action displayed only plugin window.

transcoding from 4K to 1/4 Avid DNxHD. How much hd space needed?
Hi there,
I'm going to see if I can use a 10TB drive that's almost full of 4K material in my 2010 Mac Pro (I have four free 3.5"-drive slots).
If a drive this large works, then I'll need another big SATA drive, or two, because my only hope of editing a new 4K project (I was looking into buying a Mac Mini because at least it has Thunderbolt and USB3, but it started gettiing expensive when I realized I had to add an eGPU and an external 4-drive hd bay, etc.) is to use the fast internal bus (is that the right term?) and internal hard drives, in my old Mac Pro.
So my question is: if I transcode 10TB of 4k footage, to, let's say, 1/4 resolution DNxHD files, will these files take up more than 10TB of hard drive space? Or less? Is there an Avid calculator I can use? I just want to get the right size hard drive(s).
Thanks for any advice,
Malcolm

2020.4 in making dublicate video tracks
Had problems with 2020.5 so I downgrade to 2020.4 - testing it now with the same footage that was used in 2020.5 in different project. However know I see a bug in the video tracks where if you choose another track the software makes two of them. I read somewhere else on the forum this was encountered. Is there a workaround?
I am so sorry I upgraded - I had a problem free system before. Wonder what elese I am going to run into - will pprobably go down grade to another version - or just edit in resolve
Audio disappeared - timeline gone red.

Title Tool wonkiness in 2020.5
In a 1080/59.94 project with DNxHD HQ media. Create simple titles in the Title Tool, and save as normal. In the Source window, as I'm about to start placing them in the timeline, I see that the titles are fading from back (0%) to full (100%) over the course of the default duration for titles (2 minutes.) Indeed, they edit into the timeline partially faded, necessitating a trip into Effect mode for each and every one to bring foreground level to 100%. A simple fix, but a PIA when dealing with numerous titles. I've never seen this behavior before in any MC version, and there's no means for adjustment in the Title Tool. And the looong fade from black can't be a new "feature"...
Anyone else experiencing this behavior? Or should I be thrilled that bugs can still be introduced into the Title Tool almost 30 years down the road!
