Error Message on track 1.2 when sliding nested effects MC 2020.x

Is anyone else experiencing error messages in Trim Mode whenever they try to slide a clip that's inside a nested effect? I'm seeing this with the 3D Warp effect and it only causes issues with the clip on track 1.2. If I move the clip up to 1.3, I do not have the issue. I'm seeing this on every version of MC 2020 I've tried (.6, .8, .9 and .10) and I'm seeing it on both Mac and Windows machines. 

All I'm doing is applying a 3D warp and nesting multiple elements, then stepping into the effect and hitting "U" to hop into Trim Mode and as soon as I try to slide to the left or right I get this error and Avid sometimes crashes:

I first experienced this on a Virtual Machine with the following specs:

Windows 10 Pro
Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 3136 CPU @ 3.00 GHz 2.99 GHz (2 processors)
NVIDIA RTX6000-6Q GPU
35 GB of RAM allocated
200 GB allocated hard disk space

 

Then I saw it on my personal custom built PC, a 2019 MacMini, and a 2012 MacPro all with different projects, bin, and media. Is anyone else seeing this?

Footage scaled to fit on import

Hi,

When I link or import via transcode 720x480 footage in a 1920x1080 project, the SD footage is automatically scaled to 1920x1080. The thing is, it's doing so even though I configured my Import Settings not to resize smaller images as in the following screenshot.

What am I missing?

Avid Adrenaline With the new Media Composer 2020

Hey guys been out of this for a long time and just got the new updated MC. I dug out my old Adrenaline box and was hoping to hook it back up, bough a firewire card from amazon but does not seem like it is working? Not sure if there is support for this box anymore or not. If not I would like to know what box I should get because I need to ingest some mini DV and some VHS tapes into MC so I can convert them. Thanks

Media Composer 2020.9 doesn't respect "Always on top" apps

I like using apps with "always on top"/transparency functionality for changenotes while editing; the Stickies app or Helium (always on top and transparency for web pages). They work great with all the other apps I use except Media Composer which banishes them into the background.

Can someone else confirm this isn't isolated to my setup? I'm running OSX 10.14.6.

Nexis crashing when mounting drive

Hey there,

 

Having a new issue where I can see my ISIS drive but when I try to mount it, it crashes my laptop.  Been solid for years now and try to keep my Nexis Client Manager current.  When it started, I was one version behind so updated but still having the same issue. Current version is Nexis 20.7.4.19.  Running Catalina OS.  Any other troubleshooting I can do?

Lock workspace ?

Is there any way to "lock" the viewer/monitor windows in place ? Since the 2020 version, when I scrub a clip, I often find myself moving the viewer window while moving my mouse out of the "scrubbing" area.

Bug - Lasso into Slide mode broken

In previous versions I could lasso a clip (or range of clips) right to left while holding shift and enter slide mode. That seems broken as of my current 2019 version. Lassoing will get you into slip mode, but the shift modifier doesn't work. I've seen that this seems to be an intermittent issue with new versions going back years. But I've not run into it until now. I'm a tablet user and I exclusively enter all trim modes using the lasso. So please don't offer workarounds unless it's a "one-stroke" method to enter slide mode, like a lasso. I'm curious if others see this issue and I'm hoping that this can be reported as a bug.

Eucon Log files are out of control!!

I’m relatively new to Artist Mix and Eucon, and today I discovered what was taking up a large chunk of my SSD Space - 60GB of Eucon Log files!! These were all located in my user/library/logs/avid/eucon folder on my system drive. Any idea why this is happening or how to make them stop? New to artist mix so I dont really know how to trouble shoot this. I’m running an iMac 10.14.6, Artist Mix / Eucon Control 2020.11.0.187; Eucon Version 4.7.3.187

Clips became low quality after rendering effects

Hi,

 

I'm new to MC.

Had a 30 minutes long timeline with effects on most clips (scaling, slow motion, reverse, etc)

I prerendered the effects to get playback to run smoother.

What happened is that the clips suddenly appear in very poor quality.

When I manualy overwrite them with the original footage they appear good again, but this means remaking the project.

It feels like some settings where wrong, so i hope this can be undone.

Any idea?

Avid Titler Plus Media Composer 2020.8 does nothing

Hello all,

My client is on Catalina running 2020.8. I have tried titler plus on three computers. Clicking the titler plus button in tools does nothing.  It gives a beep and no window opens.  Does anyone have titler plus working in any version of media composer running Catalina?  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi whenever I try to install MC I get this message. Can anyone help please?

"The installation failed.

The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance"

I have never had a problem with avid before and am about to start a job on Monday. Have considered downgrading OS but I would like to avoid that at all costs. 

 

Really appreciate any advise.

Export Issues!

I'm a film student working through an editing course, and when working on my final project, Media Composer decided to update! I could finish the sequence just fine, but when I went to export, the option to export as a Quicktime Movie was no longer there, and none of the other options (MOV, HDV, MP4) work!

My professor and I tried troubleshooting, and we believed we figured it out, but then another problem arose. I was able to export the film to Quicktime...but the video did not export, only the audio tracks. Can someone from Avid, or someone who's figured out how to work past this bug help me out? I need to have the entire sequence exported and saved on a flashdrive by tonight @ 5:30, or get a 50% penalty on the project!

Sync in more audio after having already created a multigroup?

Hopefully this makes sense/there’s a solution -

I synced two cameras via timecode, into a multigroup (lots of starting/stopping, and I wanted it all together in one multicam sequence)

The audio was live mixed into the A cam and I was told this was all I needed.

There were 10 VTs to cut, so 10 different multi groups.

It’s all cut now, and the director has just asked if we can replace the audio with the original audio files because he doesn’t like the mixed track.

I’m not on the project again until Jan now, but I was wondering if there was a way to sync the correct audio files with the sub groups that make up the multigroup (because when I ‘match frame’ in the edit, it opens up the subgroup in the source window, NOT the multigroup). If I can do this, then I’d be able to match frame on every shot and bring in the correct audio tracks into the timeline. 

There’s a LOT of different takes so I’m really looking for a mostly-automated option! The project’s really tight on time and money so I’m stressing a bit over how to get this sorted quickly. Any help very appreciated :)
