I'm working with prores HQ files from an odyssey recorder. Trying to fast import them into my project. They were recorded 1080p 29.97. My project is 1080 29.97. I'm running widows 8 and MC 8.1. The prores fast import option doesn't even come up in the import options. Also of concern, when trying to transcode the files from AMA, MC says the files are not the same frame rate as the project and won't be relinkable after transcode - even though they are same size and frame rate. Anyone have any ideas about these issues? Thanks!

PGLUE IMPOLITE PORT NUMBER
Hello there!
I've just upgraded to media composer 8.1 from 6.5 as I needed to work on a project which was shot on 4K. I've transcoded all the material to DNxHD now, so no AMA media anywhere near my sequences. I keep getting this error everytime I try to move a clip in the timeline on segment mode
FATAL_ERROR, msg:Assertion failed: slot >= 0 && slot < mNumSamps, file:/Snapshots/relengmtnlion3_1406253623/coresw/ACME/src/RequestList.cpp, line:1210
I can continue from there but the error keeps happening and can't hardly move around the timeline. When I click on debugger I then get a PGLUE IMPOLITE PORT NUMBER on the monitor... I've installed digital rebellion pro maintenance and it's not doing any difference, I am at a loss...
I've got to finish this documentary and can't even move my clips!! this is urgent please, please please can anyone help? anyone has had this problem before? any fixes? please Avid, help!
My system is a MacBook Pro 2.4GHz i7 with 8GB Ram. I've had to upgarde to OSX 10.9.4 as this was the recommendation on Avid's supported systems list. I have been running 6.5 since it came out and have never had a problem and now this! I can't believe it...

Export MXF without mixing down audio
So I have edited together more than 120 sequences/timelines that I have to export from Avid. Usually I would export all of these as .mov's since I need to bring them into Sorenson and convert them all to .mp4's. Our archiving format though is .mxf and since the new Sorenson Squeeze 8.5 has been succesfully squeezing .mxf files (it's no longer blowing up the audio), it would save me a massive step in exporting (as well as hard drive space).
To get to the point though, is there any way to export all of these sequences as .mxf exports and tell Avid to not pan the audio on the mxf? I only have one audio track and it's mono and just someone speaking and I don't want to spend the time opening each track and doing an audio mixdown. I might as well spend that time just exporting as .mov's.
If you know of a way to prevent the mxf export from panning the audio in avid and make it still come out of both left and right speakers and not having to make an export, please let me know. Thanks!

Media Composer 8.1 and Avid Pan and Zoom
I'm having issues on two of our computers not letting us use pan and zoom to link to the master image. Basically I have the photo imported and placed in the timeline, and when I add the effect to the clip, open the effect editor and link to the image, the image I linked to just shows as black or emptyness.
Has anyone else had this issue and what did you do to fix it? Our 8.0 systems do not have this problem currently.

Crash with Audio Keyframes
Avid often crashes during play after I inserted/edited audio keyframes. It happens not always but sometimes. I have the feeling that after I saved the bin, it doesn't crash.
It happened with 7.0.4 and 7.0.4.1 on OSX 10.8.5.

Grouping with Aux T.C.
Hi,
I have a Plural Eyes-synced sequence with a number of gaps in the video and audio tracks. If I group as is I'll end up with multiple group clips. How can I use Aux t.c. to create a single group clip?

red arrow bug
Sometimes, when I'm using the red arrow to move a clip, I'm not able to move it back to the original position when I'm holding "option+shift" or "option". I think, it's there since MC 7.

audio dissolve bug
sometimes I'm seeing a strange bug. when I duplicate a sequence, an audio track is displayed as 1 frame out of sync from a specific point. when i go to that point there is usually sth. weird with two overlapping audio dissolves (it shouldn't be possible), when I delete the dissolve, everything is fine, again.
And also when I want to extend a clip I sometimes get an error message "not enough material" or sth. like that, followed with "do you want to revert the edit", it's also a bad audio dissolve that causes that problem.
I'm seeing that in 7.0.4 & 7.0.4.1 with OSX 10.8.5

"Mute" doesn't work in trim mode
when I use "mute" (as a keyboard command), all tracks in the sequence are muted - but when I'm in trim mode, I'm hearing everything again and I have to "mute" again. Should be a bug?

Xavc audio waveforms in timeline
Unable to see the audio waveforms from XAVC files in timeline. (Either as AMA or consolidated files) Same timeline will show the waveform from imported audio tracks. MC 7.0.3. mac OS 10.9.2. Anyone else experiencing this issue, or perhaps it has been resolved in a newer MC release?

MC's New Licensing & Current Support Quality
The wording on the Avid site suggests there is a penalty for current licensees who do not sign up for support by the end of 2014. But the available information is somewhat confusing. It's clear that signing up now on an annual basis is $299, but elsewhere it says that if you don't sign up by 2014 "you will have a choice of either subscribing to MC monthly or annually, or buying a new perpetual license." If you sign up in 2014 it's $299 annually and appears to be renewable thereafter at that rate. It also appears to be $39.99 monthly for current licensees, apparently only during the 1st year and $49.99 monthly thereafter. Nowhere does it make clear what the annual license rate is if you don't sign up by the end of 2014. What is it?
Also, I've been editing with Avid MC for 20 years, and stopped using their support more than 15 years ago due to AVID's technical support Operator's not being universally highly trained and knowledgeable. I often had to re-explain a particular problem or technical issue over and over again with several different tech support operators before we'd find someone knowledgeable enough to help us.
My question is -- now that we are all being "forced" to trade the previous and much preferred system of choosing upgrades and support separately, now for a system where we can't get our upgrades without also being forced to pay for support we don't need -- is this support now even worth anything to us experienced editors and AVID permanent license owners? Do we get access to an experienced level of service personnel; and can we bypass all the newbies who are using tech time just learning how to edit with MC? I hope someone at Avid knows how important this is and is listening.

AVCHD AMA memory leak
Projects with "many" (say, about 100 or 200) AMA-linked AVCHD file suffer from RAM hunger that never gets released until application relaunch.
The simple fact that opening a project with that "many" AMA clips eats up all available RAM* and causes the system to heavily page to disk, become dog slow and eventually give errors (directly or indirectly related to the available RAM shortage), makes the AVCHD AMA workflow difficult if not useless (despite recent luma range and other bug fixes), even for the simple purpose of making a rough cut sequence before transcoding (i.e. to optimize the amount of transcoding work) as soon as the project contains more than a few AVCHD AMA clips.
This issue is not new, and is still present in Symphony 6.5.2 with AVCHD AMA plug-in 1.2:

Avid Bin Issue
Hi, just wondering if anyone has had this problem before of possibly knows what might be causing it.
We are experiencing issues with some Avid bins. Certain bins become 'locked' to the system even if it's the system which has write permission.
It seems to be on bins that are being accessed frequently and usually by more than one system.
As soon as the bin tries to save either automatically or manually, we get this:
The bin has now become locked to all systems. They can open it but on closing will get the same error.
Anything within the bin can be copied to a new bin and saved but the bin itself can't be deleted EVEN AT DESTOP LEVEL! Until all edit clients have been shutdown.

Our setup comprises of PC's (Z400, Z800,Z820) running Symphony 6.5.2 (I updated 2 of the pc's to 6.5.3 but this didn't fix it).
We also have a couple of MacPro's running MC 6.0.3.
Our shared storage is a 32Tb ISIS 5000 System Director & 32Tb Expansion Chassis, running 4.0.0.5500.
Let me know if you require any more information.

ISIS 5000 4.7.2 Storage Manager Server Performance Degraded
I have just upgraded an ISIS 5000 to 4.7.2. This is a single crate. I have it up and running with a direct connection to a single client for testing. For some reason in the Storage Manager has the statue "Server Performance Degraded". When I log into it all seems well but the Operational Status states "Normal Operation, Not Enough Cache". Considering the Management Console shows the manager in a yellow state I assume this is not normal operation. Path diag works fine and am getting average to 102 MB/s. This is a stock 5000 crate. Nothing has been altered physically. Is this a known "BUG" with this particular Isis version?

Storage Help!!!
I recently purchased 2 X LaCie 2big Thunderbolt drives because I was running out of storage on the doc I'm editing and also wanted to daisy chain my existing drives to these via thunderbolt.
However, the drives won't mount via thunderbolt and when I tried to mount them via usb3 they mounted but with an error that said "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer - Initialize Ignore Eject".
I contacted LaCie and they said I needed to be running on OS 10.8.5 for the drives to run. Is this necessary?
I am running on 10.7.5 editing on Avid 5.5. I was wondering if making the upgrade to 10.8.5 would be a hastle for avid 5.5 or if anyone knew how it is running on that OS or any trouble of it in 10.8.5 I always hate updating my OS. So I was wondering if anyone had tips or tricks on how I can make this work?

Getting an Exception: STREAM_SIZE_EXCEEDED, className:ameBaseStream while Transcoding inMC 6.5.4.4
Getting an Exception: STREAM_SIZE_EXCEEDED, className:ameBaseStream while Transcoding inMC 6.5.4.4
in files over 7 minutes. Files smaller seem to transcode fine.
Files are Canon files of some sort not sure what the camerman used.
Any insight would be very appreciated!
