Just upgraded from 7.0.4 to 7.0.4.1 and whenever I open the RTAS tool the plugin UI flickers rapidly. It looks like a stuck key, however I already tried unplugging my keyboard and turning off Bluetooth. Anyone else experiencing this?

I recently went back to film school, which lead me to return back to using Avid.
I bought Avid Media Composer back in 08, but our teachers has talked warm about the student pricing for Avid, which supposedly have 4 years of free updates.
I think the cheepest option would be to upgrade it, but would I also have 4 years of free updates then. And would I still have to use the purple usb dongle? (which I guess they dont use anymore?)
Would appreciate any imput here, so I can make the better choice.

I'm unsure if these two problems are related, though i suspect they are.
First... I added a bunch of spanned markers to all my interview clips. At some point during the edit (over the past month or so) on one clip my spanned markers started multiplying. I opened the clip one morning and there were over 7000 makers listed in the marker window- the majority of them were duplicates.
Last night I opened the same clip and suddenly there were over 27000 markers (i have screen grabs of the marker window)
Although it was strange behavior there were no warnings or error messages at any point. I was able to delete the spanned marker copies and continue editing...
All of sudden last night i was unable to open my bin that holds my old sequence copies. This morning i was unable to open either that bin or the bin containing my newest sequences. (i get the "unable to open file"/ "domain_copyout_failed error")
The attic was of no help as all the files there appear to be corrupted too...
I have tried everything to try to get the bin to open- different computers, different users, deleting the databases, trying to open the bin in a new project... nothing is working. I realize the likelihood is that the work is lost, but i figured i'd try posting here and see if anyone had any great ideas.
at the very least the spanned marker issue may be a bug and i wonder if anyone else has seen this behavoir...

Hi, I have Pinaccle Studio 16 and have used previous version to create videos of the family etc. I have been trying to add an opening title to a movie I'm trying to create. Each time i click the T symbol an error message appears saying:
Title: Default title wasn't found in the installed content. Title Editor can't be opened.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail and am now unsure what to do but cannot create even the simplest of titles.. Please help with any suggestions you may have.

At a glance, I have trouble seeing the difference between an AMA masterclip ICON and a normal masterclip ICON. (v7.0.4). Once upon a time, AMA masterclips used to be unmistakable Solid yellow, but that went away a couple versions ago. Fine, but somehow in their re-design, AMA masterclips became HARDER to see, now appearing similar to regular masterclips except for a little difference on the right side.
Can we have our AMA clips appear with a preset COLOR icon automatically as they initially populate their bin? Please make sure the Transcoded/Consolidated-from-AMA clips DO NOT have to share that same color, as they do now. It would defeat the purpose, at least for me.
Once I have my newly Transcoded/Consolidated AMA clips, I would like to un-clutter the bin visually, but rather than deleting the original AMA masterclips (or moving them to a different bin), I want to keep them "HIDDEN-but-available" in the same bin.
Which brings me to my feature request: Can we please have an updated, i.e. better way to examine the contents of a bin? Something fast and predictable, perhaps Custom Sift PRESETS as tabs within each bin (all also with Mappable keys), including the ability to OMIT AMA clips from view, (just like an Ebay search omits results by adding a "- " minus sign before a keyword).
Imagine just cycling a few keystrokes to SEE exactly what YOU tend to want to see instead of navigating the "one-Sift-at-a-time", UI that's required now. Why can't we have Bin Views that truly maximize the power of a computer to customize ALL the various items that can be shown in a bin? (including Bin Display items).
Currently, I have set up a Custom Sift that specifies showing ONLY clips in the partition where I know my Transcoded clips reside. But I cannot think of a way to easily copy my "NON-AMA preset" to all the other hundred bins I'd like to filter the same way.

Does anyone know if the new license model for MC 8+ has stopped backward compatibility for dongle activation?
I have an old XP machine running MC 5.5 that I use to complete smaller and non paying projects on but now after upgrading my dongle to allow activation for 8 on the primary editing suite - when I try to 5.5 I get a software activation error saying that I am not licensed to run the software - even though the dongle is in that machine
If this is the case I will be really sad!

Todo el material junto con los proyectos estan en un disco con la letra L en pc. Si ese mismo disco lo monto en avid media composer para mac. Puedo leer y escribir toda esa informacion pero los proyectos en Avid me aparecen como oflline, puedo solucionar eso relinkando todo el material, pero es lo que no quiero hacer. Quiero que me coja todos los brutos al igual que me lo hace en un PC. Que configuracion tengo que hacerle al disco?
antes en PC me pasaba algo parecido pero era porque en otros PC la letra de la undidad de Disco no era la misma. Entonces le cambia la letra de unidad por la suya (la letra L) y todos los proyectos se me veian bien sin necesidad de relinkar. Aguien sabe como puedo hacer eso en mac?

I had a quick question about importing audio. I noticed that when I go to import it, my options are always DNxHD36, DNxHD 45, etc. I always thought that just applied to video and not audio. Does that also determine the quality of audio too? Is DNxHD audio of lesser quality than say, DNxHD 175?

I have two questions about Frame Flex. First, is it possible to apply frame flex to an entire sequence? I do not see a way to do it.
Secondly, is it possible to add a timewarp effect to a frame flex clip? I cannot add a timewarp effect to a frame flex clip. When I go to drag it on the clip, it just does nothing.
Any thoughts?

just received the bm mini Recorder, updated to the latest driver 10.2.1, hooked it up, no picture...
media express, the software which comes with the recorder, shows a picture, i'm able to capture movs with it,
but i still would have to transcode the media. Even Facetime sees the camera.
I want to capture a live show direct into avid mc 8.1, so that i can start editing right away. The show has to go online immediatly after it has ended.
the capture tool doesn't find an videoinput, at the audiosection i can choose blackmagic?

This might be ann BCC question too. I have the new Mac Pro. as big as it can get. running Maverick. Thunderbolt harddisk. AVID 8.1 with Shympony
OBS I'm using my iMac late 2009 as monitor. Hooked up via thunderbolt too.
When I apply a BCC effect to a clip in the timeline and open the effect editor, then drag the handles to modify the effect settings it can take up to several seconds before the screen refreshes and the handles have moved to the new setting. Same if I drag the handles in the record monitor. nothing happens when I drag at first, and then after like 3 to 5 seconds it jumps to the position but it basically is impossible to work this way -- and someting is clearly wrong.
I obviously haven't tried all the effects but Rays is one I'm using. Others behave the same way too.
I've tried running the system on my way slower iMac from 2009 with Avid 7.02 and BCC 8.2 and none of this is happening. only split seconds delay
Any suggestions anyone? A setting or something I have missed. I'm new to AVID and not the best technician

Anyone with recent experience using AVCHD 2.0 footage? I am considering getting the Sony HXR-NX3E camera for corporate work, but want to know whether AMA and transcode of that media is still problematic.

I have cut a short trailer in a project using AMA linking and now I want to transcode the project to cut a one doc. When I transcode the bins am I right in thinking that the timeline version that is AMA linked will all go offline or will it remain?
I was hoping I could somehow link the AMA short version to the transcoded footage? IF so how do I do that.
It seemed if I transcode the timeline sequence then the clips in the bins sometimes unlink during that process so I am hesitant to do this.
I have out put the short trailer via mixdowns and everything is still online.

I enquired to AVID about upgrading my OS to 10.9.4 from 10.8.3 and upgrading to MC 6.5.4.4 (from MC 6.5.3)
They told me..." Are you currently on MAC OSX 10.8.3? If you are already in OSX 10.9.4, I suggest you use MC6.5.4.4. Please use the uninstaller application of MC6.5.4.4 to uninstall your Media Composer."
This confused me cos yes I am on X 10.8.3 so do I uninstall AVID on that before installing 6.5.4.4?

Is it really true that the audio suite d-verb plugin can´t be used on a stereo track in MC8?
Can´t find it in dropdown menu.
I'm having issues on two of our computers not letting us use pan and zoom to link to the master image. Basically I have the photo imported and placed in the timeline, and when I add the effect to the clip, open the effect editor and link to the image, the image I linked to just shows as black or emptyness.
Has anyone else had this issue and what did you do to fix it? Our 8.0 systems do not have this problem currently.

I have just installed the Newscutter 11.0.4.1 patch update on 4 Newscutters running under Win 7 64bit pro on Z400 workstations. Before the update, NRCS tool was working fine. After the update, the tool seems to connect to our ENPS server, and finds some rundowns, but the area where the text usually displays is blank.
If I un-install the update, the NRCS dispolay works as it should.
Any ideas?
