I recently installed Media Composer 8.3. After opening a project I started on MC 7, I realized, that the Air RTAS Plugins are missing. They were installed with MC 7 by default, but obviously not with MC 8. Does anyone know how to install them on MC 8 and where I can download the plugins?

For the last few days I've been receiving a warning from Microsoft Security Essentials about a file in the Avid installation folder. The message is as follows:

Question 1: Is this even a genuine message from Microsoft? The capitalisation and punctuation seem odd.
Question 2: Is anyone else seeing this?
Question 3: Should I be concerned?
I'm only seeing it on my W7 system. It doesn't appear on W8.1.
Final question: What do I do to fix this?

Just recently bought two new Mac Pro's for Avid MC6. They came out of the box pre installed as OS X 10.8, which was fun...As Avid are yet to make a ISIS client compatible with 10.8 (This may have changed in the last two weeks).
Hurry up AVID. No excuses, 10.8 has been out for months now.
Anyway, rolled the hard drives back to 10.7, installed ISIS client, put the machines on the network. Seems fine reading off the ISIS playback, editing no issues.
However when i tried to export a H.264 or a DV PAL it crashed stating "Segmentation Fault...blah", same on both machines. Took the sequence and exported on a macbook pro fine. Rebooted the machine, disconnected network drives and remounted. They are plugged into a Force 10 switch, and into the ISIS. So it's not read / write speed.
Any ideas anyone? I've got a major in-house production kicking off soon, these suites need to be up and running.

I'm currently on MC 5.5 and I do a lot of layer blending (Transfer modes)! It's a part of almost every project that I do and I use the great free plugin from Profound Effects called DMN Transfer. The problem is that it is a 32bit plugin and therefore can not be used with MC6.
It's 2013 and Avid MC still can't do layer blending natively. I know this is a MAJOR issue for many editors. Just do a quick google search. This should at least be available as a native plugin but even better as a right click option in the timeline!
I don't know if you guys have an agreement with BorisFX or something like that but right now this is the reason why I'm not upgrading from MC 5.5 to 6.5 and the reason why I'm considering switching to Premier Pro.
To some people this may be a small thing but to me it is major. As I said - I do a lot of layer blending.
So my request is: Give us a way to do layer blending inside Media Composer! Not using Avid FX or expensive 3rd Party plugins.

Had a quick Google and some problems a couple of years ago return but it seems that maybe this will work OK by now? Probably just a batch import or AMA to the media needed once the AAF timeline is in?

I tried MediaLog but didn't find a way to AMA-link into MediaLog...
Any ideas?

we have updated two new Media Composers from 6.0.3 to 8.3 in our Postpro Company. Sometimes we had exported MXF 35 Mbits or 25Mbits Footage for Newsstations. But in the new version it is no more possible to export in this Formats. That is an enormous amount of work for us. Can you give me some tips oder an avid customer patch, that the option is back for us? Thank You!
I remember that years ago it was a problem to install PT and MC on the the system, because the drivers were incompatible.
Are the problems solved and is an easy seamless workflow possible PT11, MC7?
Recently upgraded from 7 to 8.3 via 12 year service contract. Upgrade went well. Today when I logged on I got a message that my iLok license manager was out of date and I needed to upgrade. When I did my machine is shown with 0 activations. I went to my avid Products and Subscriptions page and only the upgrade to 7 is shown not the recent 7 to 8. I called AVID and my system ID number was rejected for support by the IVR. I have all the documentation on my order, my order ID email, AVID acknowlements, Subscription approval, etc. How can I get someone from AVID to talk to me without buying another subscription or paying for support? My approved System ID is today being rejected as not having a subscription.

I'm considering switching from FinalCut Pro back to AVID.
To get a feeling for the software I downloaded the trial version of the latest MC. Everything worked fine until I tried to Link to my AVCHD-Files. Even that worked, after installing the proper plugin. When I try to play the clip in the source monitor it stops after a few frames with this message
sfplay consumer execute timeout
I tried google, but couldn't find any answers. Maybe you can help.
My system:
Apple iMac i7, 2,93 GHz 8 GB RAM
The AVCHD-Files are form a Panasonic Lumix GH-2

an error message on the deck VPID Color Space mismatch. Has anyone else come across this?

Yes, I know Avid Xpress DV running on a Windows XP platform is ancient and totally out of date.
Yet, I have had much success in downloading HD footage to this system...until quite recently. (Can't OUTPUT to HD obviously, only to 1080 x 720 but that's fine since this is an experimental project)
I have been downloading HD footage (1920 x 1080p) to my Avid Xpress DV ver 4.8 from a Delikn Wingman HD camera. No problems. Came out fine until the last few donloads when sudenly the images were depixillating in diagonal lines. These were clean shots of a bus stop sign against a vivid blue sky.
Suddenly also, some of the shots which were previously clean and neat became diagonally depixillated also. This is like the image is comprised of a series of closely linked diagonal lines so the image is still intact but diagonally 'jagged'.
I have tried reimporting footage after converting it down to 1080 x 720 but same result. I have even tried reimporting after converting down to 720 x 586. Same problem.
Does anybody out there know what is causing this weird thing to happen and why? What I can do about it?
I have tried dumping the Avid icons from the OMF file folder so it can rebuild on reopening the project. But the icons did not rebuild, instead giving me a message that another process was preventing this from happening (don't know what that process is/was because the system wouldn't tell me). I had no choice but to recover and reinstall the (possibly corrupted) icons from my Recycle bin or have everything offline.
I'm now thinking of dumping the OMF files in their entirety and reimporting all the footage from scratch. This would be incredibly time consuming.
Can anyone out there suggest any better course o action to get the footage in clean again?

I updated from MC 8.0 to the most recent release MC 8.3. Now MOV AMA files have video lag when full or 10 bit video quality is selected. There's no lag in draft quality but draft is sub-par for client review. AMA was a primary selling point for going to MC. Does anyone know a fix, AMA update or other for this issue? I've gone through settings, cleared preferences, uninstalled/reinstalled Media Composer etc. with same results.
Note that MOV files that were previously imported into projects with AMA using version MC 8.0 play fine. Only files imported with Version 8.3 have video lagging issue. XDCAM, Canon files and others seem to work fine with AMA. At this point it appears the only the MOV files have the lagging issue.
It also doesn't matter which drive I use including raid's, all drives have same results using MC 8.3. My next try is going back to version 8.0 but not sure if projects created with 8.3 will open in a previous version.

Drives: Internal, external firewire, multiple fiber channel connected raid's, usb

This is happening often enough that I can't keep my editing pace! Help1!!!!!! How do I sort this out? I fear this is a clean install over the weekend kind of deal to get my machine back up to speed.
But this is a clean OS X install and I had installed MC 8.1, and upgraded to 8.2, and then upgraded to 8.3

I have a Panasonic GH4 and normally film in MOV format at either HD or 4K. A customer with a GH2 said he had problems with AVCHD footage from his GH2, so I tried the same thing with my GH4.
You need to set he camer to film in AVCHD. I filmed @ 1080 50i. Record a couple of clips and then AMA link to them in Avid. If you try and play them Avid either locks immediately or plays for a second then locks. This happens if I AMA link to the volume or the individual files.
Try and transcode the AMA linked files and Avid also locks.
BTW locks = Avid freezes and the computer says Avid is not responding. No other error message.
If I import the clips the old fasioned way, file - import, they import and transcode fine.
If I load the clips into other programs - I have tried EDIUS 7, Premiere and Prelude CC 2014 - they work. It seems to be Avid related.
AVCHD footage from other cameras - I have a Sony 3D camera, plus footage from Panasonic 151, AC90 and others - all works ok in Avid.
My tests are using Avid MC8.3 on a PC using Windows 8. My customer has been using MC8.0 on Windows 7.

When I select expert render I get this error message:
"some effects are not recognized and will not be rendered"
when I click OK, I get:
"expert render: no effects to render" although there are some there.
This error msg came up today for the first time and it's showing up on all new sequences that are copies of previous sequences. I can go back a few verions and it's not there. Does this mean I may have gotten a corrputed file?
I can select one clip and it renders fine (as well as any clips under the cursor)
As a workaround, I tried to just export the sequence and let it render. That happened, but then I got the msg: Can't find V1???
I have 6.0.3 on one machine, 7.0.3 on another (similar machines, see my specs). 6 takes 1 minute 3 seconds to launch. 7 takes between 6 minutes 30 seconds and 7 minutes. How long does yours take?
I also see that if I leave 7 unattended (no activity) for a while, say 10 minutes, when I come back it starts taking forever to do anything and I get "not responding" warnings.
Memory leak?
EDIT: If I disable LAN it launches in 1 minute and change. Looks like it's the old problem that was supposedly fixed in 6 (which I never had until now) where meadia streams mgr is endlessly checking network drives.
Hi, it's been a while since I posted.
A while ago I re-installed my OS and finally got around to re-installing AVID yesterday. I installed from my MC 6 disc, then downloaded MC 8.3 from the AVID site using the student upgrades.
The problem is I'm getting audio but no video playback in MC 8.3. I was previously running MC 7.0.3 with my current computer with no problems. Since then I've added a second GTX 680 (running in SLI) and 8 more GB or RAM, going from 8 to 16GB total, as well as re-installing Windows.
Currently my AVID interface looks like this:
The sound plays back fine, but the video doesn't play in the source or record windows, and those windows also retain the image of other windows that are moved over them.
The current drivers I'm using are the latest ones - should I be using older drivers? Do I need to change the QualifiedGpuBoards.txt file to get AVID to play ball? It's not giving me any "unsupported GPU" errors or anything on launch...

I was wondering if anybody would have a solution to a problem which I am encountering.
I have media composer 7.4 installed on mac, with blackmagic ultrastudio 3D & an AJA GEN 10 sync generator. My avid was fully functional, batch capturing HDCAM dnx185 on my previous OS, however since a recent installation to Yosemite I am getting an error message:
Halted on clip "castle.new01
Exception: Videl Signal present but not captured.
I sometimes also get another message with the same heading, though also say, "failed to find coincidence point on tape".
I had to make the upgrade to Yosemite, as I purchased a g-drive studio. Unfrotunately my Imac would only see the new drive with the new apple OS Yosemite installed - frustrating - I know !
I installed the blackmagic box drivers and avid appeared to be functioning fine. I am able to digitise tapes and tapeless media and avid is performing well in edit mode also. However i cannot batch capture from tapes.
Avid is seeing an SDI signal, and I can digitise from tapes fine.
Does anybody have any suggestions that may aid this problem?
