How to fit a large video on to DVD?

I shot an am-dram production on an HDV cam over christmas. Slapped on some titles and did a bit of tidying up in AVID via AMA linking. The source material was 1440x1080p, 25fps, and the final sequence is 1 hour 26 minutes long.

I then did a video and audio mixdown into DNxHD 120, then a QT reference out.

I've loaded the QT reference into Sorenson squeeze, and squeezed it using the DVD dISC_Burn_ES_PAL preset under Disc>Elementary steams.

The problem is the video files that squeeze is outputting are over 4.7GB, and so won't fit onto a single-layer DVD. The first one came out at 5.39GB, so I checked the option for "Constrain file size" and entered a custom value of 4,000,000KB, or 4GB. That should easily fit onto a DVD, but the file that Sorenson outputted was 6.04GB!

What can I do to get this file onto a single DVD? PAL discs burn at 720x576 aspect ratio, so it's not like I'm trying to cram a HD file onto a DVD or anything. Plus 1:26:00 isn't much longer than your standard movie, so i know i'm not being unrealistic by trying to fit it all on.

Any help on how to get the file to fit? I'd rather not have to do a self contained QuickTime export from AVID with reduced quality settings until I get a .mov that's under 4.7GB, but that's all I can think to do.
